Our Story
It all started 25 years ago in Washington State, when our founder, Lana, worked as a seed buyer at a garden store in Seattle's iconic Pike Place Market. She built close relationships with the flower farmers who sold their vibrant bouquets at the market. These farmers often sought her help in finding high-quality seeds they couldn't source elsewhere.
What began as a favor soon became a calling. Lana started DragonStone Seed, operating from a humble backyard seed shop. Here, she forged lasting connections with her farmers, many of whom were new immigrants dedicated to starting a new life and legacy. By getting to know their unique needs, Lana became an expert in selecting the varieties that would ensure their success.
This mission—to support our hard-working farmers with the best quality seed we can find—is still the heart of DragonStone Seed today. In 2023, Lana retired and entrusted the company to her youngest child, Jessica, ensuring the tradition of dedicated service would continue.
Now located in the scenic Sonoma County of Northern California, DragonStone Seed has evolved into a primarily mail-order company. We continue to honor our roots by personally serving the local flower and vegetable farms throughout Sonoma and the surrounding Bay Area, just as Lana did a quarter-century ago.
About Jessica
Jessica has a passion for plants and farming, which developed directly from her childhood watching her mother grow gardens in her own back yard. Later, Jessica moved to Hawaii and worked on many farms, which deepened her love of planting and farming. She has studied herbalism and owned a small business for many years making herbal products. She has owned and operated DragonStone Seed since 2023, after learning its ways from her mother.
